We Moved

I moved a long time ago to a different system, and didn't realize this was still out there.

Some News & Some Pics

News first...tomorrow you may notice a change or two around here. I am not expecting any real downtime, but there may be a period of funky business with the blog and the website. Once the new site is up, I'll dedicate a full post to it. In the meantime, I've got a few photos from this past weekend.

For Christmas last year my siblings and I gave my mom a trip to Lexington, Virginia with all her kids. We haven't all been there at the same time since 1997 which was sadly for my granny's funeral. Before that, I'm not sure how long it had been. When we were little kids, we'd go up at least once a year if not more to visit my granny. Below are a handful of my favorites from the trip...

A few shops in town.

My nephew Garrett is identical to my brother at this age. I need to post some scans.

The door to "Stonewall" Jackson's house. This is the house that my mom was born in. I think that's pretty cool.

This is the steeple to the Presbyterian church. It's my mom's church that she went to growing up. Sadly, it burned a couple of years ago and has since been rebuilt. It's really quite pretty.

"Stonewall" Jackson's grave. My grandmother & grandfather are buried in this beautiful cemetery. It so peaceful and interesting to see so many very old graves. Many Civil War veterans are buried here as well.

This is a miniaturized view of the pancake joint where we had breakfast. It was right across from the hotel. Nothing special, but it's fun to make things into models sometimes.

My sister-in-law, fiancee & sister all climbed to the top of the half pipe to hang out while I snapped up a million shots of my nephews skating.

Gaige (nephew) dropping in on the monster half pipe. I think it was about 8-10 feet from the ground to the coping. He's pretty awesome.

Best Jessica Ever

And the of course there is a group shot of the whole fam-damnly. here we are at Goshen thanks to the trusty tripod.

I'll have more messages for you tomorrow to be sure.

Rowland Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of shooting a wedding for a friend of mine with a friend of mine. It was in a beautiful little wedding chapel in Mt. Pleasant. I had no idea the place even existed. Lee is a very fun person and really makes the job of photographing her easy. Here are a few of my favorites. I'm sure a slide show will be up shortly once I get with Dave for the rest of the photos.

Happy Birthday Jamie

Today is my brother's birthday, but last night we celebrated when my sister in law gave him a surprise party. Good times indeed.

Full slideshow on the way, but right now I have to get ready for today's barbeque at my parents' house. Birthdays around here are celebrated for weeks.

Here are a few choice shots from last night.

OMG, He's Right Behind Me Isn't He!

So Jessica, Jay, Nina, and I are trying to get together about once a week or two. A common place for that to happen is Moe's Southwestern Grill. Tonight was possibly the first night we've done that where no-one had to taste their own foot. Usually we sit down to eat at Moe's or otherwise and start telling a story about some kid in High School or something embarrassing only to find out that person's best friend or family member is right behind us. Awkward!!!

So...I invite you to share your foot-in-the-mouth stories. Leave them in the comments. You don't have to name names.

I'll go first...actually I won't because I can't think of any good ones right now that I've done, so I'll share one that wasn't me.

In college, Jay, my ex-fiancee, and I were walking in front of the Thomas Cooper library when we heard someone yelling across the sidewalk "Jaunita...Jaunita...Hey Jaunita!!!". We turned around to see this awkward goofy guy come running up and grabbing the girl in front of us' arm. I think he was in the middle of another "hey Jaunita" when he realized this girl was not Jaunita. He awkwardly stumbled back, looked at us, and slunk away. I'm sure his face had to be burning in embarrassment and we were all laughing pretty hard.

So how bouts it?

A Touch of Embarrassing

What good is life if you can't have a laugh at yourself once in a while? Below are two slightly embarrassing things.

The first one isn't so bad. It's a photo of me during the short period when I wasn't keeping a beard while I lived in Columbia. Lots of chin.

The second is a funny music video of my old band Love Apple for the mega hit, Winnie Cooper. Jason Sposa found it in the archives and posted it to YouTube.com. All I can say is that I'm glad we weren't trying to make a serious video. This one was for one of Jason's Media Arts classes I believe. Ah...good times.

By the way...that's not a sweater vest I'm wearing, but an ugly shirt instead. This video makes me get the same embarrassed feeling I get from watching a sappy speech from Uncle Jesse at the end of an episode of Full House.

Also, I'm culling all of my photos from my other computers and putting together a giant mass library of all my stuff from serious work to snapshots. I'm hoping to come across some more stuff from Love Apple and get back to posting more on the Love Apple site. I posted two more songs up there earlier, but they aren't downloading properly, so I'll have to figure that out tomorrow. Right now, I need to go enjoy the rainy night with Jessica and the cats.
